Notice of closure of “GiGO Akihabara Building 1” on Sunday, August 31, 2025

GENDA GiGO Entertainment Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Kazuhiro Ninomiya, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") will close the amusement facility "GiGO Akihabara No. 1" that it operates on Sunday, August 31, 2025, due to the expiration of the fixed-term building lease contract for the facility. After the closure, "Matahari Entertainment Co., Ltd." (Head office: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, CEO: Yasutaka Yamanaka) is scheduled to open an amusement facility.

Akihabara's icon "GiGO Akihabara Building 1" to close on August 31, 2025

This store, which opened in October 1992 as "Hi-Tech Land Sega Shintoku", is the longest-standing existing store in a single building at our company, and has been watching over the changes in Akihabara for over 30 years. Its red exterior is loved by fans both in Japan and overseas as an icon of the city, and it has become a familiar presence to any game fan who has visited Akihabara.

Throughout its history, the mall has changed its name to "Hi-Tech Land Sega Akihabara," "Club Sega Akihabara," "Sega Akihabara Building 1," and "GiGO Akihabara Building 1," but has continued to welcome game center fans from all over the world as the center of gaming culture.

GiGO Akihabara Building 1 will close on Sunday, August 31, 2025 due to the expiration of the facility's fixed-term building lease contract. However, our company will continue to operate our business at three stores, GiGO Akihabara Buildings 2, 3, and 5, and will continue to contribute to the development of Akihabara and Japanese pop culture more than ever before in cooperation with Matahari Entertainment Co., Ltd.
